On February 6, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued an official letter directing proactive solutions to ensure sufficient electricity supply for production and business and people's lives during peak periods in 2025 and the period 2026-2030.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with relevant Departments and localities to advise the Provincial People's Committee to review, update and adjust power source and grid projects in the province when there is a policy to adjust the Power Plan VIII, the Plan to implement the Power Plan VIII; preside over and urge, accelerate the progress of power source and grid projects in the planning in the province; coordinate and implement the bidding work to select investors for power projects in the Plan to implement the Power Plan VIII, the Provincial Plan.
The Department of Planning and Investment was assigned to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and relevant departments and sectors to advise the Provincial People's Committee to select investors to implement power projects in the Plan to implement the Power Plan VIII. Implement solutions to call for and attract investment for projects in accordance with the planning and plans according to the provisions of law in the list of power source projects in the province.

For the Hai Lang LNG Project Phase 1 - 1,500 MW, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Investor Consortium (T&T Group Joint Stock Company, Hanwha Energy Company, Korea Gas Corporation, South Korea Electric Power Corporation) to promptly complete and approve the Feasibility Study Report; establish, appraise and approve the implementation design after the basic design; promptly complete investment preparation procedures, build project progress and commit to a specific operating time to accelerate the implementation of the project. Strive to complete and put into operation 1-2 years earlier than planned, and must be put into operation before 2030 at the latest. Assign the Provincial Economic Zone Authority to preside over and coordinate with relevant units and Hai Lang District People's Committee to actively support the Investor Joint Venture in site clearance; assign the Department of Industry and Trade to guide and support the Investor Joint Venture in project management and construction investment steps according to regulations.
For the Quang Tri - 340 MW Thermal Power Plant Project, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Quang Tri Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Agency to coordinate with the Provincial Economic Zone Authority, relevant departments and localities to connect with Gazprom Group to soon organize a meeting with the Provincial People's Committee in February 2025 to discuss related contents to soon implement the Quang Tri - 340 MW Thermal Power Plant Project to ensure progress according to the Implementation Plan of Power Plan VIII.
For the power transmission grid projects implemented in the Plan to implement the Power Plan VIII, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province assigned (i) the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to monitor, support, and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles arising during the implementation of the projects to ensure the set progress. (ii) The People's Committee of Hai Lang district to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to urgently complete the site clearance work for the Quang Tri 500kV Transformer Station Project and the Quang Tri - Vung Ang - Da Nang connecting line. (iii) The People's Committees of Cam Lo, Dakrong and Huong Hoa districts shall preside over and coordinate with relevant units to urgently complete the site clearance for the Lao Bao 500kV Transmission Line Project - Quang Tri 2 500kV Switching Station, Lao Bao 500kV Transformer Station Project and connecting 200kV transmission lines, Quang Tri 2 500kV Switching Station Project and connecting 500kV transmission lines after these projects are approved in principle and approved by competent authorities.
Quang Tri Power Transmission, Quang Tri Power Company specifically develops a plan to ensure power supply in 2025; strengthens grid inspection; reviews, arranges reasonable plans and shortens the time for grid maintenance and repair, to best meet the power supply for production and people's daily life in 2025 and the period 2026 - 2030.
For power source projects that have been put into operation, the Investor is required to do a good job of production preparation, ensure operational efficiency and be able to mobilize maximum power generation capacity during peak months of 2025. There must be absolutely no shortage of water in hydroelectric reservoirs according to the reservoir operation process approved by competent authorities. For projects under investment, the Investor focuses on human resources, material resources, and construction implementation to ensure safety and quality of works, striving to put the projects into operation earlier than the committed schedule.
| Quang Tri province has determined sustainable development and effectively exploited potential. During the past time, the province has focused on directing the planning, supplementing the power development planning, and wind power development planning in the province. Up to now, Quang Tri province has 20 wind power projects, 11 hydropower projects, and 03 solar power projects that have been put into commercial operation. The total capacity of completed construction and installation work in the province up to this point is over 1,100 MW, contributing to promoting sustainable energy development for the country. According to the Power Plan VIII, Quang Tri province is allocated a total capacity of 1,800 MW by 2030. In 2024, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has proposed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to consider and supplement the province with an additional 1,500 - 2,000 MW of onshore wind power capacity. |
