As part of the 2025 Investment Promotion Program of Quang Tri Province, on May 31, 2025, a working delegation from Quang Tri Province led by Mr. Le Duc Tien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, held a working session with Vietnam Wafer Joint Stock Company. The company is a pioneer in Vietnam in the field of silicon wafer production for the semiconductor industry.
At the session, Mr. Le Duc Tien introduced the potential and advantages of Quang Tri Province in developing semiconductor projects. He also discussed with consulting units several key topics for future collaboration, aiming to position Quang Tri as a leading regional and international semiconductor industrial hub.

During the session, Mr. Le Duc Tien elaborated on specific topics such as: Assessment of demand for semiconductor input materials in Vietnam and globally during the 2025–2030 period; Current supply capabilities in Vietnam; Local and domestic sourcing potential; Evaluation of raw material quality (white sand) in Quang Tri; Determination of the scale and location of the proposed High-Tech Center; Proposed infrastructure and facility components (infrastructure, plants, logistics), including investment phases and total projected capital; Management strategies and proposed investment solutions.
Mr. Chau Hoang Long, CEO of Vietnam Wafer, shared insights on the potential of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry, the importance of advancing deep refining technologies for silica-based materials, and expressed his company’s desire to cooperate with the province in laying the foundation for Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.

In conclusion, Vice Chairman Le Duc Tien expressed his hope that Vietnam Wafer will accompany the province in developing a proposal for establishing a Semiconductor Industrial Center in Quang Tri to be submitted to the Ministry of Science and Technology. He also assigned the Quang Tri Center for Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion to coordinate with relevant departments and agencies in preparing the investment proposal report.
