The approved planning of Quang Tri province plays a particularly important role and significance for the development of the province; has a long-term vision, opens up new directions and new development spaces; outline important strategic directions to develop the province rapidly and sustainably on the basis of mobilizing resources from domestic and international investors and effectively exploiting the province's existing potential and strengths.
The goal by 2030 is that Quang Tri will reach a development level among the country's fairly developed provinces, with a basic economic structure of an industrial - service province; be one of the comprehensive economic centers of the North Central and Central coastal regions, a logistics and goods transit center of the Southeast Asian region and transport corridors in the ASEAN region, the Mekong sub-region (GMS); people's lives will be improved and enhanced.Vision by 2050, Quang Tri will become a province with a strong economy with the main structure of industry - services, one of the driving forces for development of the North Central and Central coastal regions; National Defense and Security will be ensured, and people will have a happy life.
Provincial planning has specified the national master plan and regional planning at the provincial level on the space of socio-economic activities, national defense and security, urban systems and rural population distribution, infrastructure, land distribution, resource use and environmental protection on the basis of connecting national planning, regional planning, urban planning and rural planning. This is a new approach, with extremely important contents, including viewpoints, general goals, main goals, development orientation of important economic sectors, orientation of territorial space development, socio-economic infrastructure development to orientation of land use, environmental protection and sustainable development. Accordingly, clearly defining the development strategy goals such as: the economy develops harmoniously between the economic - social - environmental pillars; basically completing the investment in a synchronous transport infrastructure system, including 5 types of transport: road, railway, waterway, seaway and airway; creating strong changes in industrial infrastructure, trade, services, tourism, creating a premise for breakthrough development for the next phase.
The whole province has more than 650 projects with valid investment licenses with a total investment capital of nearly 237,000 billion VND, including 21 foreign direct investment projects with a total registered capital of 2,536 million USD. In 2023, the whole province attracted 50 new investment projects with a capital of 3,474 billion VND (an increase of 167% compared to 2022). The above figure is forecast to continue to increase in the coming years, when many infrastructure projects of the province are being focused on implementation and are gradually being completed such as: Quang Tri Industrial Park, Norh-West Ho Xa Industrial Park, Quang Tri Airport, My Thuy Seaport, Cam Lo-La Son Expressway, etc.
