As part of the official visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife to South Korea from June 30 to July 3, 2024, Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Vo Van Hung, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SK Group and SK E&S Company. The MOU focuses on investment cooperation, energy transition, and green growth in Quang Tri province, in the presence of the Prime Minister and leaders of the Ministries and agencies of both Vietnam and South Korea.

The Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the proactive and initiative-driven approach of SK Group in proposing cooperation initiatives and roadmaps. He informed SK Group that the Provincial People's Committee has requested the Prime Minister and relevant central agencies to consider and approve the conversion of fuel from coal to LNG at the Quang Tri Thermal Power Plant in the East South Economic Zone, update the project into the 8th Power Planning, and increase the plant's capacity from 1,320 MW to 1,500 MW.
In addition to collaborating on the Memorandum of Understanding, and with SK Group's experience in multi-sectoral development, Chairman Vo Van Hung, also requested SK Group to support Quang Tri province in local human resource training, particularly focusing on preparing a skilled workforce to support SK's future initiatives. He also affirmed the province's strong commitment to accompanying and facilitating the implementation of the cooperation projects.
On behalf of SK Group, Mr. Choo Hyeongwook, Chairman and CEO of SK E&S, appreciated the goodwill, proactivity, and efforts of Quang Tri province in promoting and advancing energy projects in the region. He affirmed SK Group's interest and priority in implementing energy solutions, with an initial focus on proposing the conversion of the coal-fired power project to a more environmentally friendly gas power project.

Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Vo Van Hung, also had a meeting with the leadership representatives of K Global-Mobility Company (TataDaewoo) from South Korea regarding their proposal for a truck maintenance business project, export of components, and a truck assembly plant in Quang Tri.
Following that, Chairman Vo Van Hung participated in a session with the Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea and other important activities as assigned by the Prime Minister.
