With the approval of the Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee, Comrade Le Quang Tung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Quang Tri Provincial Delegation to the National Assembly, participated in the delegation of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife during their working visit to the United States and their state visit to the Republic of Cuba from September 21 to September 27, 2024.
As part of his work program, from September 21 to 24, in New York City (USA), Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Quang Tung participated in a forum on enhancing Vietnam-US cooperation in the development of the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence (AI). He also attended the ceremony marking the 1st anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the upcoming 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States, organized by the Asia Society Institute. Additionally, he took part in the policy speech by General Secretary and President To Lam at Columbia University, one of the most prestigious universities and leading research and academic centers in the United States.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Quang Tung attended a panel discussion with major businesses from the United States.
Comrade Le Quang Tung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, also participated in a business forum organized by the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), the United States Chamber of Commerce (USCC), and the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States. He also attended a program to meet with Vietnamese diplomatic missions in the United States. On the sidelines of these activities, Secretary Le Quang Tung had meetings and exchanges with several businesses, investors, and partners from the United States.
Continuing his activities in the United States, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Quang Tung joined the delegation of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife on a state visit to Cuba at the invitation of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and his wife, from September 25 to 27, 2024. In Havana, Comrade Le Quang Tung, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, visited the Embassy and met with embassy staff, the Vietnamese community representatives, visited the Mariel Special Economic Zone, laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument, laid flowers at the José Martí National Hero Memorial, attended a people’s and youth friendship meeting in Cuba, held talks with Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernandez, and met with Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz. He also participated in the official welcome ceremony and talks between General Secretary and President To Lam and First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, as well as the ceremony to present the José Martí Order to General Secretary and President To Lam.
Additionally, Secretary Le Quang Tung participated in other important activities as assigned by General Secretary and President To Lam. Notably, during the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries on September 26, in the presence of General Secretary and President To Lam and First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, along with senior leaders of the Parties, States, and Governments of both Vietnam and Cuba, Secretary Le Quang Tung and Cuban Minister of Health Jose Angel Portal Miranda signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Quang Tri Province and the Cuban Ministry of Health. The MoU focuses on cooperation in three main areas: the exchange of health experts and academic knowledge, collaboration in education and specialized fields, and cooperation in the cultivation, processing, and production of medicinal plants. This MoU is part of the Joint Statement on September 27, 2024, reinforcing the traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation in a new phase between Vietnam and Cuba.
